So I thought I would actually write this all done and put it out there. So here it goes….
For the past few years I’ve really struggled with headaches, dizziness and nausea. I’ve been to the doctors many a time and they just say it’s migraines take some aspirin, but 8/10 that doesn’t help and I’m still in pain.
Only the last year the headaches have been getting unbearable, I would struggle my way through work, come home and go straight to bed. I was in so much pain.
On the off chance I figured maybe working with computers all day is the cause, so went to get my eyes tested… And that’s when it all started.
They discovered my optic nerve was swollen and wanted to get this checked out, and 6 weeks later I saw a specialists. They also told me it was swollen and need to see even more of a specialist in neurology.
That same night the neurology department called me and asked me a thousand questions about my headaches and then asked for me to come on the next day.
I had a ct scan and a lumbar puncture and that day was diagnosed with idiopathic intercranial hypertension.
What a relief for someone to finally believe me that it wasn’t just a migraine.
I was sent home the same day but the next evening I found myself in an ambulance on gas and air due to the pain in my back, I couldn’t move without wanting to cry… Here’s a tip guys DO NOT LET A STUDENT DOCTOR DO A LUMBAR PUNCTURE… Four attempts until It was in the right place messes up your back muscles.
I’ve now been on diamox for 3 weeks and they have wierd side effects -
Tingling in feet and fingers, carbonated drinks taste like metal, hot flushes and ofcourse dizziness and nausea.
The headaches are starting to come back again. I’m starting to feel rubbish everyday and staring at the computer at work makes everything blurry.
I have a check up next Tuesday but I believe with the way I feel and because I’m going on holiday soon I’ll need another puncture. So I’ll be spending my 21sr birthday in bed whilst everyone parties outside my garden
